Well designed feature rich and well documented app Developer is very responsive to queries For tables I still go to Typora                     Excellent app nkalvi
There are a lot of Markdown editors out there but few are as fast and well thought out as Versatil The support for Commonmark is essential because it means your documents will be portable to other editors It s quick to flip between edit and read modes and great syntax highlighting make keeping your place easy If you ve ever found Atom chugging along trying to keep up with your edits or wondered whether your md file will look right once you ve uploaded to GitHub get Versatil and stop worrying                     An overlooked gem antititus
Think of this as a very capable plain text notebook that also does markdown quite well There are a couple of things to get used to before getting in gear The default mode is display you see your extext as rendered markdown You have to create a new document hit an edit button or use the spark command to append to a running file This is nice when browsing your notes because you don t have the markdown syntax to mentally translate s you read You DO have to browse in this release because search is not yet implemented I expect to see it in an early update There is a non configurable default CSS style you don t have options to choose others but you can override it with CSS or HTML directives in the text Preferences are limited but do include font size selection if you prefer larger type for example than the 12pt default Some editors I use make you change on a document by document basis For the geekier the best part is under the hood In common with other markdown apps your text is stored in plaintext files that can be further processed But VS uses Commonmark for rendering A Commonmark compliant renderer makes conversion to formats other than HTML much easier You can say do your rough drafts here and then take to the next level in LaTeX with all your formatting carried over I m not going to be using this for heavy lifting but I already like it quite a bit better than the patchwork of idea capturing apps that I have been using Helpful in app documentation on markdown syntax and the supported extensions 2015 11 18 Whatever was ailing 1 1 1 crashing with S for a new spark prepend is fixed in 1 1 2 and I can restore all the stars 2015 11 12 After the latest update this crashes whenever trying to edit Still liked it quite a lot and hope to get back to it following a bugfix                     Not just another Markdown editor Richard Careaga
I m a software engineer I spend most of my day taking or reviewing technical notes checking things off lists and taking more notes My world has changed for the better since I started taking my notes in markdown and from years of searching Versatil is by FAR the best markdown app I ve used I ve recommended this app to all my coworkers and on Twitter to my peers That may be a hard pill to swallow check out the 14 day trial on the Versatil site I purchased the app within about two hours of starting the trial The organization tooling is simple and effective the markdown interpretation perfect and the support is AMAZING The very few times I ve run in to an issue with the app the developer has responded in less than an hour and even gone so far as to email me fixes Honestly the app alone is worth five stars the support is worth ten                     Exceptional Markdown app Everglow
An interesting foray into the markdown editor space Some of the features that caught my eye and ones I subsequently found github flavored markdown finally i can put in code snippets and see them properly a notebook like folder interface allowing me to look at lots of docs quickly lovely rendering look at the screenshots they are nice great resizing behavior you can get nice columns etc using bootstrap css so why only 4 stars because it s core workflow is not there yet when you save you see the preview but you scroll back to the top of the doc when you render the fonts and look are very different from the editing window it feels like 2 different worlds you can t get a preview and an edit window at the same time if you could get the seamlessness of byword preview into this it would get 5 stars                 great features great potential too much friction around previewing KingPurply
