As a font of information pertaining to the deep and hidden mysteries of jazz this app would fail Anything would thats part of the point of jazz As a solid tool to introduce people to the growth and history of jazz and encourage them to seek more information it works and works well Its wellpresented and well enough curated that most all of the most influential performers and composers are hit Is it a little expensive given that all the information and videos are freely accessible online Sure Other than that I have no complaints Solid polished app

This is the only app I could justify spending 10 on being the jazz lover that I am HOWEVER theres one simple function that its missing The ability to share via Facebook Twitter email etc Talk about spreading the word of Jazz This would be HUGE as well as something Jazz needs as much as it can get PLEASE add the share feature I for one would have TONS of uses for it LOVE it but missing a big piece

This app is so promising in its idea concept and layout But its implementation is so disappointing The subject of Jazz is perfect for a multimedia presentation but it seems like the people who put this together know little about jazz How else can one explain the glaring omissions confounding categories and ridiculous errors Why not team up with some knowledgeable jazz authors or even writers The All Music Guide so that essential albums have meaning not just a list if whats available on iTunes Having said all that there is still some good content here especially the videos and the timeline idea is enough to make it worth the ten bucks Five stars for concept one star for implementation Huge potential wasted

I wish this app had existed when I took a history of jazz class as an undergraduate However I spotted some typos and missing videos Some quality control would make this good app great Great concept imperfect execution

For those puzzled at some of the editorial decisions realize that every bit of content is pulled straight from Wikipedia And songalbum recommendations are straight from the iTunes charts The upshot is that theres no critical intelligence or authorial voice making this more of a pretty package than a serious resource Seems like the Wikipedia factor ought to at least be disclosed in the app description original content seems like a reasonable expectation for a 10 app Not what it seems

The timeline helps to place these Jazz Greats in perspective as far as who influenced who plus opens up a family tree of jazz innovators I never heard The short and long bios are also cool Best of all tho hands down is the direct youtube links within the app So no need to leave it for study Great job Excellent Archive

No jazz survey is ever complete and this certainly doesnt go as deep as Ken Burns who also left out several key figures That said this is an excellent app worth every penny and a great coffee table book Thanks and hoping for an expanded version in the future Nice App

As a music teacher i will be using this app for my students in middle school It is well put together and cohesive Nicely organized with a lot of little bunny trails that you can take to dig deeper Great Worth every dollar

I love the format and the possibilities for development This is a wonderful resource However at the price one should expect a measure of attention to broken links and a bit more than the generic wikis to some of the topics The time line is accurate also but there are many interesting and influential artist leaders and personalities missing in this app Educators will fly to this app with some more developmenteven inapp purchases of expansion packages for the purposes of use in the classroom A suggestion get in with the Ken Burns series and book and include that info in a later expansion I wish that series was available in this interactive format Great appdesperately needs maintenance

Visually appealing and well organised Obviously you can find all this material on the Internet but you can also find all the words in the English language on the Internetthe issue is how they are organised Its missing a way to continuously play musicvideos but otherwise well worth 4 bucks Quite nice

10 in the current app economy one should be able to expect something nice and polished Ken Burns app for example Not only is everything scrapped from Wikipedia or YouTube but it is also buggy Videos sometimes play that dont fit the frame and are cut half off and full screen just changes ordination while leavening it itty bitty Dont waste your money Im going to try to figure out how to get a refund Waste of money

I downloaded this for my hospice patient who absolutely loves Jazz and even he learned new things Its a great way to learn about the origins of Jazz and the videos were a great addition Of you love Jazz this is definitely worth it Great App

This is a very comprehensive compilation of jazz history Quite useful for someone starting to understand and enjoy this wonderful musical genre Im still learning about jazz and this app has definetely helped me to expand my musical interests Excellent

Theres simply not enough opinion depth or insight in the writeups here its way too superficial And the Essential Albums for each artist are just a full uncurated list of all of their albums not the essential ones at all It feels like it was put together by someone who doesnt really know jazz at all but just went to a bunch of different resources to pull in free content Too muck like an encyclopedia

While this app is not the allencompassing jazz history app we may be wishing for it contains a vast amount of information With an update to include more important figures it could be an amazing resource Still I recommend this app It is a fun way to learn or refresh your knowledge on jazz history Nice app
