No longer works on my I Pad Tells me an update is required but none is available Has been this way for more than two months unacceptable especially for a paid subscription     No longer functions on I pad Will h3
New version of app requires iOS 10 but for those stuck at iOS 9 original iPad Mini last compatible version of app is offered but then this pops up update required over and over after you launch the app until you give up This is a sucky way to handle this just tell your users of barely obsolete tech upfront that they can piss off             lame handling of mandatory upgrade elektronen
On my iPhone 7 with iOS 10 I saved 3 articles to read offline later When I went to read them offline I was told no articles were saved In settings however it says I have saved 3 articles using a total of several MB So they are there but not accessible Frustrating Other than that sore point I m generally happy with the app Love the content             Can t access saved articles offline CHR-Seattle
Works fine on my iPhone with iOS 10 but not on iPad which for some reason I can t upgrade to iOS 10             Only works if you have iOS 10 Pebble 57 user
Very rudimentary Like reading a simple PDF You cannot click on a term to find it previously in an article unfortunate when for example there are many italicized words in Arabic Also there is no ability to have the word defined or searched on the Internet as can be done with most Apple written media I expected more from a publication like the Atlantic     No dictionary or search function
This is the buggiest app Ive ever seen Every time I try to download an old issue it crashes Every once and a while it works but most of the time I get either an error message or it just goes back to the screen What is the matter with this     Awful
I deleted the app it just is too aggravating For every article it wants me to sign in and signing in doesnt help either     Dont bother
Wanted to buy one issue and getting nothing but spinning wheel of death Useless No wonder magazines having trouble with subscriptions as they have no desire to make money by making useful aps Too bad So frustrating     Dead on arrival
Had some glitches and wont open to were I was like it used to However I can re select the issue I am reading and get where I was              Used to work fine
As the title indicates this review is only about the App on iPad Air 2 Too often when I try to start reading at the same point I left off the App goes to its logo page which not only forces me to click read but after doing that I am put back on the table of contents So I have scroll past articles that I had already read or decided not to read to find the article I want to continue to read Sometimes if I left off in the midst of the article I am returned to the start of the article which means remembering where I stopped and scrolling to the correct page This review is intended more for The Atlantics IT department than to readers My hope is a 1 Star review would get someones attention     Review of App not Content
Even after downloading issues on a regular subscription every single time I try to access one it asks me for my Apple Id and asks me to pay for that I need to cancel reenter my subscription info for the 5000th time knowing it will be forgoten as soon as I switch apps     Frustrating at the very least
The least manageable app Ive ever used No bookmarks no zoom options stories difficult to locate I want my yearlong subscription refunded and this is my first month of use SAD     In Just One Word TERRIBLE
The magazine is great the app not so The biggest issue I have is that the app never ever remembers where I left of reading when I come back to continue reading and thats really annoying Should be an easy fix The other issue is loading time It seems to take forever to load with the wheel spinning for more than a minute until finally the cover page is shown        Needs work
Its a shame The Atlantic has such great content but this reader is absolutely horrible from a UI and functionality perspective I had iTunes cancel my subscription and issue a full refund Would gladly subscribe once they sort these issues out     Pretty bad
The Atlantic app loses two stars for failing to develop an app that is accessible from within NewsStand and loses another star for failing to offer vertical consistent scrolling Of the six magazines I have the Atlantics implementation is the worst although the Wall Street Journal may be a close second Do better        Bad design
Seems more challenging to use compared to similar apps        Just started using the Atlantic App
This app has the potential to be great but it freezes often When I close my phone and go back later to continue reading the app refreshes and takes me out of the article incredibly annoying Also the articles dont download to the phone so I cant use the app in the subway prime reading time        Needs substantial improvements
I can download at least five other magazines newspapers andor books in he amount of time it takes to download one issue of this magazine     Poor app for such a wonderful magazine
Liked reading the magazine for awhile but now the app just closes after downloading the mag and click in read magazine In effect I have no subscription     Wont let me read the magazine
Its the year 2012 and Atlantic is still unable to release an app that keeps the readers place Having to start from scratch every time you open it makes the app worthless As for me Ill stick with the paper edition 2015 update Nothing has changed in three years Shame on the Atlantic for not investing in their app     Fatal flaw
I have used this app for years yet when my subscription expired I did not have a way to reactivate Not good UX     Odd app
Whats the point Downloading issues uses too much memory Searchable database would make sense not this app     Lackluster nonsearchable app
Fine to read articles from current issue However when I try to download a back issue the app directs me to the iTunes store which offers to let me purchase a single issue Since I have a print subscription which entitles me to ALL back issues this is very irritating Problem continues Now it seems to know I have a subscription using a subscription number SHORTER than what the app says is required BUT I can only read the latest issue It seems to have downloaded previous issues but when I click on any previous issue NOTHING happens It does however respond when I say I would like to ARCHIVE the issue Somebody needs a new job The ratings above pretty much say it all Whoever is responsible for this should be at Burger King        Great magazine VERY POOR app implementation
At the app store Lefthand Sidebar says works with iOS 511 Text in the very long Description about this update says this requires iOS 6 WHY is that info not in the sidebar And starting the app I have now ancient version produces a doordie dialog box new version available Click yes to update or similar with Yes being the only choice Sound like no options and since updating will not work for me anyway iOS 5 I may as well delete this nonfunctioning thing which by accounts does not work anyway     For Your version of iOS Will it matter
Having just purchased a subscription I am having tremendous difficulty moving to and through the item I am trying to read Note trying because I am not able to maintain the access and continuity I enjoy in a hard copy magazine        Frustration
Updated February 2015 A paucity of routine magazine features such as adjustable fonts bookmarking etc A great magazine but an anachronistic app They need to hire some good engineers And impossible to obtain previously purchased issues Crashes often     Unstable and antiquated
Each time I open the app I have to log in even if the logins are within minutes of each other The magazine downloads but then crashes if I try to open and read the magazine Its the middle of May and the May issue still is not available on the app In other words a fairly useless app        Not worth the hard drive space
This app music have written by the same people who wrote the Wall Street Journals app Slow locks up and flat out doesnt work     Rivals the WSJ for being terrible
I am a paid subscriber to the Atlantic print edition and have been for over one year I have downloaded and deleted this app three times It is just horrific It constantly asks you for your subscriber information has many bugs and and is extremely slow If you subscribe you can download the magazine to your device so you can easily access but I have once and only once been successful in downloading an issue It always stops midway This is true on my iPad Air 2 my iPhone 6 Plus and was also true on my iPhone 5 Dont bother with this app Enjoy your print subscription or read it for free on the web But stay far away from this app     Quite awful use website instead
I love this magazine I recently purchased the subscription For several years Ive read the free articles Either way really neat articles                 Great magazine great deal no issues with the app
Its criminal that such great content is stuck behind such a crapa app Please Upgrade the app        Great content HORRID app
Its not just magazine articles republished here there are fresh new stories every day in varying sizes Top quality journalism truly balanced My only irk is I find it difficult to read articles when offline on my subway commute would be nice to be able to download a fail dispatch and be able to open app read articles even if offline At this juncture I have to be sure to open the app while online and start to read stories in order to ensure they remain readable while offline              Tremendous additional news source
The app is adequate but whats with the article title font Barely readable and just plain ugly And theres no way I can find to change the font size in an article           Ok but that font
Cannot find how to delete issues Its easy to find wothers The option is delete the app and start over Make it easy See WaPo for example        Storage hog
Having been a subscriber to the print magazine for well over 10 years I was excited to also get it on my iPad The Atlantic is a good print magazine However the App is very poorly executed When I leave it for any reason it goes back to the front cover and I have to find my place again I cannot change the screen to night vision black with white letters so I cannot read the articles close to bedtime as a blue light screen interferes with the bodys natural melatonin production delaying sleep circadian rhythm Every ePub ebook allows that option Also I want to be able to turn pages left to right rather than up and down The Atlantic App really needs some work        App needs work
Like others Ive found the app to be buggy and clearly incomplete Basic features just dont work And what does work is slow and buggy Really theres no reason for the app Just use the website in the browser     Half baked No Reason to Exist
Cant access old issues or the special issues like WWI that I bot Would have given it a zero but that wouldnt take     Terrible wont remember my credentials
IPhones have got small screens This app wastes about a third of the screen with THREE separate menu bars I cant believe any designer could be so stupid Oh and the app is slow too     Screen area full of junk
Full of bugs Virtually useless
I prefer to read The Atlantic with an iPad App because I need the print to be enlarged However this App is utterly useless for me and I cant read my issues either on my iPad OR in print It is profoundly frustrating           Louzy App
Great content but the app regularly freezes Its also nearly impossible to read content offline even if youve completed the last update Used to work great hopefully the bugs will be fixed soon     Freezes
Two stars is the result of 5 stars for content and 3 stars for the app No search function to retrieve the article you were in the middle of reading that just disappeared Fortunately you can usually find it on the web Some of us over 40 would like to be able to increase text size        Great writing Horrible app
Why cant the Atlantic program contours figure out a way to remember login and password between issues No excuses The second star is only because the mag itself is pretty good        A pain in the a
Print edition poorly tied in with app Cannot find a way to mail an article to a friend Stupid directions for subscription number     Very confusing app
Whatever I did to offend Atlantic it was enough to consign me to app hell Just go to the newsstand if you want an issue Believe me its easier     Down the rabbit hole
When on the go this app works fine to read Atlantic articles My preference is to read stories on a bigger screened laptop but the app is more than adequate on my iPhone 6 Plus I truly enjoy Atlantics thoughtprovoking journalism that goes beyond talking points and sidetaking Its a true rarity in journalism I subscribe to the magazine which enables more features on the app Its worth the price in this knowledge starved world                 Very Pleased
I will not be renewing for two reasons It is frequently difficult to start the app More importantly it wastes a huge amount of space since earlier issues cannot be deleted I read 12 magazines using Nextissue yet its current issues use less total space than Atlantic Im not going to purchase a new iPad just to store Atlantic issues     Aweful
Very buggy freezes regularly folder function doesnt seem to make the article available offline most of the time     App doesnt work well
I get Im using an iPad 2 but there is no way the app is so processor intensive that I cant open a digital magazine This is extremely frustrating part of the reason I subscribed to the magazine was for the digital edition     Crashes every time I log in
Why isnt this supported under Newsstand like Harpers The New Yorker The Economist etc     Why no Newstand support
When compared with other magazine readers this app is quite good I much prefer it to reading the print to which I used to subscribe It reproduces the print version as much as practical and yet is nicely adapted and even enhanced for the iPad Allowing access to dictionaries would be an even nicer enhancement but my other magazine readers likewise do not allow that or text selection Also Id like to be able to clip to Evernote or at least bookmark favorite articles Not sure why there are so many criticisms but my guess is they are due to memory issues magazines are big so maybe close other apps The app never crashed for me Also doubletap the page and pinch to zoom to the font size of your desire              Relatively good magazine reader
The New Yorker features and ease of use are the best Atlantic fails in every category in comparison Reading views embedded media ease of navigating all mediocre        News ok Magazine lacking
Wow hot garbage     Looks and feels like it was made for the first iPhone
I purchased a oneyear subscription primarily to get the excellent article on ISIS Unlike all the other subscriptions I have purchased through the App Store this one does not reflect an icon in the Subscriptions folder so I can easily access the issue When I want to go to the issue March 2015 I have to download it again It wastes a lot of time for no reason        Does not show up in Subscriptions folder
