I have been using the app with no problem until I had to updated to ios 11 that s when it doesn t work Please update your software so that I have access to use eStroke again             New update version needed Frustrating mom
This is a GREAT app for learning Chinese Please update so that the app won t be lost after the update                     Please update for ios11 PacificOpportunity
Does not work at all     Terrible app eatEmmmmmmmm
App locks up I think But I can t find any instructions on how to use the app Concept is great but lack of instructions makes it unusable Too bad     Doesn t work no manual Scotteray
App has previously worked for me last summer but for the past couple of months it has refused to work on my iTouch it keeps telling me to download latest iOS but I already have the latest one on my device I paid money for this app what the heck is going on         same iOS problem as Jennifer221 JumpinJesuits
I bought this app and could not download the app because it required the newest ios version my ipod has the newest version I went to their website to contact them but their email link doesn t appear to work If I ever get the app downloaded I will write a review of the actual material if there actually is material to view     Could not download Jennifer221
On the iPhone 5 the lower icons do not function                     Estroke Nicknamed101007
App doesn t work at all     Doesn t work Lesnik
Just downloaded this app and I must say it is AMAZING Does everything I would want in a Chinese app However the interface is rather drab and I feel it needs an ample amount of work done on it in that regard Also I would love to see an iPhone 5 version of the app as well Other than that great app D                 Almost Perfect radxpictures
                    Great useful app sia_rez
It seems as if the designers of this app made it with the intentions of young Chinese child using it to practice the vocabulary they would be learning in class That being said the interface is relatively difficult to use as all the tabs and different screens are labeled in Chinese It would be great if there was an option to switch from language to language If you want this app just to serve as a dictionary there are way better apps out there for that reason QingWen I purchased this app to work on my stroke order and vocabulary I have all but mastered the stroke order of most characters however there is not an easy way to see the meaning of the characters you are writing In the test function there are dozens of great words to practice ranging from 1st to 6th grade difficulty however it never tells you the word meaning You would have to leave the test function and look up the word separately I was really looking for a quick and easy way to quiz myself on vocabulary but I don t even know what half the words mean Could be way more convenient                 Hard to use Has potential Bryan Herbert
I bought this app because I wanted to be able to review the HSK vocabulary lists and also practice writing and recognizing characters After thirty minutes with this I can see that it has the potential to suit my needs but the interface is so confusing that I m not sure how to make it work None of the icons are labelled so it s a bit of a guessing game to navigate between the different features Additionally it was advertised as an iPad app but it is in fact an iPhone app I am disappointed about this because part of what makes it hard to use is the fact that everything is so compressed on the screen If it took full advantage of the iPad s larger resolution it would be a lot easier to use I think Also I find it crashes fairly frequently which is only a minor annoyance On the plus side this app is a great resource for anyone studying Chinese because it has all the major vocabulary lists it shows you how to write each character step by step it includes comprehensive dictionary entries that encompass meaning as well as common phrases and it speaks This is what you pay for and in this respect it s a solid study aid I only hope that future versions of this app will make its interface more user friendly             Great idea poor execution Ciaervo
I use it everyday for classes for looking anything up Once you figure out what you need to do to navigate you are all peaches I love this app and i am so so so glad that i downloaded it It is so helpful                     Great App The Hazellenaut
Tell seems to have great feature but a horrible platform to navigate Please fix and instruction on how to use this program 7 for an app that you can t navigate Should be 2         Horrible platform Xvino26X
So all in all I found this app the handiest for learning Mandarin So many things to like Handles both traditional and simplified Demonstrates stroke order Maintains a user definable list of words that you can step through to learn I even find the stroke vocalization handy Since I started learning Mandarin I ve bought a number of apps and checked out many more This one while the most expensive is really the best I ve found I may even spring for the iPad app My one quibble is that the user interface takes a little getting used to Yes I know you can download the documentation But isn t the point that you should be able to use the app without the documentation My one request is that after the app is finished demonstrating the stoke order the voice should actually read the word with proper tones This would help make the link between character and tone                 One quibble one request overall really good PKYLin
This is a great app for learning Chinese                     Awesome Qwerty1219
The interface is a total mess Basically the only way to familiarize yourself with most of it is by trial and error One thing I find particularly annoying is that the app remembers which character is selected when you go from the main screen to the writing test screen but not when you go the other way around Why It would be really helpful if you could read some information about the character you re seeing when you re practicing stroke order Ideally on the same screen but having that information a tap away would be a start Anyway despite its flaws it s really helpful so I d still recommend it In short content is five stars bad interface takes one star price takes another so 3 stars Not that I think it s too expensive but I do expect a more polished app for this price             Lots of good content bad interface tikimoai
If there is an included Chinese to Chinese dictionary the app would be much better I used the free app Pleco before this and it had almost the same functions perhaps even better for free My electronic dictionary also has strokes but using my iPod is more convenient For the 7 that I paid can you please add a Chinese to Chinese dictionary             Great But 5TH Dimensions
Rave review for this app I am learning Mandarin and this is by far the best Zhuyin learning tool I ve found 6 stars                     Best app for Bo Po Mo Fo Bulian
I couldn t figure out how to get it to teach me stuff I started with the grade 1 6 flashcards right from the beginning Having that seems like a grade idea Unfortunately I can t figure out what to do to move on to the next character sometimes it does it for mr and sometimes it doesn t         Seems useful but it s very confusing Zergling.Net
I purchased estroke at first version and I ve really enjoyed its continued improvement Lots of interface tweaking additions of various ways to categorize and save stroke examples The dictionary input and showcasing seem faster now This seems to be a developer who is willing to keep at it and keep improving This is not your first choice if you are trying to learn the language check out Pleco s excellent app but if you are looking for a good way to study calligraphy with a cross reference to standard Mandarin traditional and simplified characters this is very very good I have this open on my iPod Touch when I sit at my calligraphy table                     Continued Improvement CTurner
This is the most outstanding learning tool for Chinese available I have most of the Chinese dictionaries training apps etc and this is by far the best I hesitate to call this a dictionary as it has tremendous facilities for reviewing 100 200 300 500 1000 etc frequently used characters plus complete 4 level HSK This is amazing You can view how characters are written while you are reviewing your choice You don t need to learn writing to use this tool as full pinyin is provided The developers update this tool on a regular basis enhancing the tool and correcting minor errors Other Chinese apps I have almost never improve their products One provide of tools no name mentioned has the most apps for studying Chinese and I have most of them They are of limited use and they NEVER update them eStroke has no audio but audio is only helpful for single characters as all the apps I have that have audio for compounds and sentences just stitch individual character sounds together with a very unnatural result I have other dictionaries for single character sound This dictionary is my main go to studying tool I look forward to even MORE enhancements though it is so good I wonder what they can do                     outstanding chinese dictionary TNTz9
It could potentially be a great Ap but the program lacks manual How do you skip such a large basic tool         Ironically unorganized Juels1111
The thing that always amazes me about most of these Chinese learning programs is that none of them ever have detailed instructions as to how to use them This program is the worse when it comes to this I still can t even figure out how to write a character or to just type in a simple english word for that matter I can only type in one letter at a time A lot good that does me What a total waste of money and the worst part is that when you go their website it s just as bad because they tell you this program can do this and that but they don t explain how to use it step by step     Terrible and Complicated Total waste of money wesleywongphoto
I use eStroke every day I bought the PC version about a year ago and was very satisfied Now that it s available on the iPhone iPod Touch it is much more handy and convenient to use I recently updated to the new version and have noticed that the strokes are much FASTER than the last version One thing this dictionary has that the PC version didn t is the dictionary It s not a bad dictionary but be careful using it Now what this version seems to lack is the kanji on kun reading that the PC version has It would be nice if it came with it That being said eStoke is by far the BEST tool out there for learning chinese characters and for a real real good price UPDATE Thank you for providing measure words and for the improved word functionality I m especially thankful for your adding of the kun on Japanese readings The makers of this app are so awesome for listening to their customers and improving their product                     Best Hanzi Tool Philippe331
OVERALL The latest update s have really improved this app and I m bumping up my rating This is a really good dictionary for studying CON This app is still never my first choice for conversation or translation The buttons are confusing And it doesn t return anything for partial matches I vastly prefer DianHua s search engine as it is very forgiving and thus more informative PRO This dictionary is great for mastering individual characters You can explore how they re used in many compound words Also when you find compound words in the dictionary it breaks them down and gives you the meaning for each character                 it s getting better gottaLearn
At 5 you can t go wrong with this priceless tool                     Definite for Learners of Chinese Aaron F
As a busy student of Chinese in Taipei I use this program every day It is helpful and easy to use Taking time out of my schedule to review this application is proof that it is worth at least the five dollars I paid                 Useful Every Day 強納森
This app is especially good for me because I study Chinese Mandarin and Cantonese and Japanese I find this app very useful I hope they improve this app and add More updates and ancient Chinese characters and if possible make tge dictionary more better and fullnof more vocabulary Also it would be great if they had the furigana for the characters too Heck if they had sound for each character in each language that is used it would turn this app into a super app But the app is very good now but I really looking foward to more extras for this app                     Great App Splinchi
It s a nice app when writing characters it is essential to know the stroke order The only problem I have with it is the lag It also bothers me how you canseats pinyin to search for characters in the search engines Another thing I don t like is the phrases in the main screen they are really small Enough being negative it does exactly what it says Really nice app to have when you are learning Chinese If you need s dictionary is suggest using Qing Wen                 Very nice ThatKinkyCrayon
For a year I studied Simplified Mandarin I learned vocabulary and speaking skills using great programs like Rosetta Stone Using the the international character palettes that are already included in the Mac OS I learned to type using the pinyin system that translates Roman characters into Chinese characters However there was no useful tool to learn correct stroke order of Chinese characters until eStroke came along Without the ability to write the strokes within the character in the correct order the input device on the iPhone and apparently soon the trackpad in Snow Leopard cannot recognize what you are writing There is a definite internal structure to each character that must be followed In my humble experience there are no other products that are as simple to use as this one Now I can speak listen recognize characters and also write Chinese without relying on software interpretation programs Thank you EON Media You are the best                     Absolutely Amazing whatnow1962
I LOVE eStroke on my Mac and have been waiting for the iPhone version It provides the proper stroke order and allows you to search phrases Perfect for doing Chinese homework with my kids My biggest gripe about the iPhone version is that the character is displayed on a smallish corner of the screen less than 1 4 of the screen Also it is difficult to scroll through the phrases without using a stylus as the characters are packed tightly together Nevertheless I would still highly recommend this for the 4 99 price                 Solid Version 1 0 Homework Mama
