The Bosch Mobile Scan is now available as a free download on Apple Store for both iPhone and iPad owners.The application is designed for use in English language. It weighs in at only 49.8 MB to download. It is highly advisable to have the latest app version installed so that you don`t miss out on the fresh new features and improvements. The current app version 1.2.3 has been released on 2015-03-25. The Apple Store includes a very useful feature that will check if your device and iOS version are both compatible with the app. Most iPhone and iPad are compatible. My experience is that this reader includes one free CodeConnect download for a single vehicle The entire database is 39 99 I used the AutoID mode to download the free module to my iPhone I downloaded this app plugged in the reader and connected to the reader over Bluetooth I connected to the reader over my iPhone in a location with a good data connection to my iPhone The reader immediately wanted to download a firmware update The firmware update required several planned manual re connections between the reader and my phone Settings Bluetooth U Scan Connect So it is important that this step is successful or you may end up with a brick if the firmware update is interrupted I found two unknown error code thrown by car I was able to find the meaning of the error codes by searching the Internet My dealer was also able to confirm the meaning of the error codes by looking in the Service Manual Includes One CodeConnect JALTraveler
In Hawaii this code reader costs roughly 100 The store clerk did not mention the additional 31 40 in app purchase required for ABS codes and definitions There s also an additional cost if you want airbag codes and definitions made available to your Bosch Mobile Scan phone app So if you re in Hawaii you re looking at over a 150 tool for all the features to be made available to you I purchased this in order to compare against the KOBRA wireless OBD2 car code reader scan tool available on Amazon for 19 99 before taxes shipping I haven t received it yet Will post comment after its arrival and trying it out So far so good on the Bosch mobile scan tool That is after you make the additional purchase to release the codes and definitions for your vehicle There is a cheaper option to spend a third the cost if you want to purchase the codes for only a single vehicle But for 30 you get all the definitions I didn t purchase the airbag codes so I can comment on that I did notice that the tool has had a tendency to disconnect from the bluetooth connection The app will tell you to reconnect I had to close out the app stop restart my Bluetooth radio to restore connection to mobile scan tool several times to get a connection to stick I was not able to test if the codes and definitions were available since the quick scan and OBDII EODB tests both came back with no codes found What s strange is that the check engine light was on prior to my testing but when I ran the quick check the check engine light was no longer there and the results came back as no codes found I m going to test another vehicle to see what other results I can find I can t comment on whether or not it s worth the money and convenience to have this tool but I have it now so I m going to try and get the most mileage from it as possible Overall a three star rating Removed one star for not advertising the need to spend an additional 30 for definitions on all vehicles additional cost for other features and a second star for the device s tendency to disconnect from Bluetooth Bluetooth issue might be caused from RF interference and antenna placement but with such a small footprint on the device I m sure they did the best they could I hope so anyway I m really interested to see how his stacks up against the cheaper 20 KOBRA scan tool Hawaii 100 tool additional 31 40 for ABS codes and definitions Taro brand 808
Great app if youre willing to pay the little bit needed to use it properly I have used this to help fix multiple vehicles I am far from a professional mechanicbut this app definitely is a good help when trying to troubleshoot a difficult issue Amazing app for mechanics
after seeing the cost of in app purchases i could buy a higher end tool cheaper Will b looking for a different brand in app purchases no go
I purchased the Mobile Scan dongle and used the app when trying to figure out a service engine light and corresponding emissions problem The dongle and app together were awesome and allowed me to know exactly when my car had completed the emissions drive cycle and wouldwould not pass emissions I also allowed me to see what each of the O2 sensors was showing in realtime which I could interpret to understand my cars problem with a little help from online forums Bluetooth connection and app functionality were outstanding My ONLY complaint is the lack of ability to save a full graph of sensor output but I suspect this will be added over time Overall I took a leap of faith buying this instead of the standard oldschool OBDII reader device and I was not disappointed at all For someone like me who would love to see just about anything in a clean slick iPhone style presentation this was outstanding I will keep using it with all of my cars any time they have a problem Overall very pleased Great slick app solid feature set
Great app I was easily able to diagnose an engine light on my car I also was able to get the Code Connect data for one car free so correcting the issue was a lot easier Free CodeConnect
I wouldnt obd2 scan my toilet with this the emisions test is great but doesnt read codes doesnt clear codes doesnt live graph like it should Doesnt read codes
Do not get this device Bait and switch by Bosch Really Shamelessness You pay for the hardware but to use it you have to pay for each additional car and each additional test Im a techie so was pretty excited about the concept of using my iPhone and all the advantages it offers but having to pay again and again and again basically every time I use it on a different vehicle or test ruined it Now I have to return it and buy an old school reader not a Bosch Theyve lost me forever as a customer Not only that I will caution others to avoid their products and services due to their questionable ethics demonstrated with this product A ripoff platform for selling addons
I wanted to review the app before buying the 80 OBD950 dongle It loaded fine on my iPhone 5S but will not load on my iPad 3 This is a deal breaker I am awaiting a response from Bosch regarding this Wont load on iPad 3
Purchased against better judgement Had to install app update software and ran diagnostics Check engine light service engine light and reduced power light on Tried another vehicle with same lights on plus abs and airbag Upon completion of scan 0 codes found on both vehicles Called customer service to find out the are not open Crap
To read codes you need to pay Anywhere from 8 to see abs codes to 40 for the whole book And no promises the bluetooth will work right Save yourself some money and get a normal plug in reader Is not free
